AIX to Linux Migration Schedules

TO:  Campus library staff with Aleph regions on Delaware, Saranac, and Seneca

Planning is underway to migrate Aleph regions on the current AIX servers (Delaware, Saranac, and Seneca) to new Linux servers.  Since Aleph will remain at version 20, there will be no changes to functionality.  The OLIS and ITEC have been working on processes to ensure that the migration will have minimal impact on local campus activities.

Information on the migration process, along with calendars indicating when campus Aleph regions will be migrated is available on the OLIS Confluence site at  (logon required).

Time frames are:

  • DEV regions will be migrated from AIX to Linux from end of November through December 2012
  • PROD regions will be migrated from AIX to Linux from February through March 2013

Two dial-in conference calls will be scheduled to allow an opportunity for library staff to ask questions about the migration process and/or information provided in the attachment.  Pre-registration is not required for these calls.  The OLIS will document questions and answers for sharing with those who cannot participate.

The calls are scheduled for:

  • Wednesday, November 7, 10:00-11:00am
  • Thursday, November 15, 2:00-3:00pm

Dial-in information is available on the OLIS Confluence site at the URL listed above.

Thank you
