Migration may seem a long time ago, but you will still encounter data oddities created during the migration. One of these is the use of the temporary location flag to protect data.
Migrated data for multi-volume works (and serials) may not have been subfielded in a way that ALEPH could correctly create a HOL record for the base call number and items with the volume and number in a description field.
A specification for migrating this data was developed, which used the temporary location flag to override information in the HOL record so that: 1) a single HOL record was created and 2) specific item data could be protected.
This new “How To” explains how to correct this data.
Global removal of the temporary location flag is possible BUT IS NOT DESIRABLE, since global removal may result in the loss of data.
