Three new Custom Services, plus enhancements

Three new Custom Services are now available and three have been enhanced to make the output easier to use.

Custom-51

Circ / Services / Custom – Circ Stats (Titles) / Circulation Statistics by Title

This is a new report.  It provides circulation statistics at the title level.  For statistics at the item level, use custom-52.

This service lists bibliographic information and the total number of circulation transactions per title within the specified time frame for titles published within a given period.  Circulation transactions can be limited to in-house use only, loans and renewals only, first-time loans only, or all of these transactions.

The service needs to be run on one collection code at a time. Bib records with an STA field are not included.

Output is now broken up into files of 60,000 lines or less and is formatted as .csv (comma-delimited) files. This makes it much easier to import these files into Excel for further use and manipulation.  See the Help file for more information.

Each entry includes:

·         Bib info from Z13 short doc: System Number, Title, Author, Imprint, Year, Call Number

·         Number of circulation transactions

Custom-50

Circ / Services / Custom – Circ Stats (Titles) / Circulation Statistics by Item

Custom-52
Circ / Services / Custom – Circ Stats (Titles) / Circulation Statistics by Item with Patron Information

These are existing reports that have been enhanced as follows.  The output is now broken up into files of 60,000 lines or less and is formatted as .csv (comma-delimited) files. This makes it much easier to import these files into Excel for further use and manipulation.  See the Help file for more information.

Custom-53

Circ / Services / Custom – Circ Stats (Titles) / Circulation Statistics by Item for SUNYONE

This is a new report developed for the Diversifying SUNY Collections (SUNYONE) Pilot Project.  It is very similar to custom-52, but is limited to titles in the SUNYONE Collection.  Note that items are only retrieved if OLIS procedures were followed to add the Item Statistic “20 SUNYONE” to the Item record.

Custom-90

Cataloging / Services / Custom Services – Reserves / Re-index Course Reserves

This an existing service that has been enhanced so that users can better monitor its progress:

·         The Help file now explains:  “To see the service running in the Batch Queue, you will need to connect to the 30 library.”

·         When the indexing jobs are complete, a report named “p_custom_90_is_complete” will be in the print directory of the library from which you ran the service. Example: if you ran the service from the 01 library, the report will be in the 01/print/directory.

Custom-97

Cataloging / Services / Custom Services – General / Restart z39.50 server (custom-97)

This is a new service.  It allows you to restart the z39.50 server.  You will not likely need to do this often, but when you do, this service is available.

360Link’s SUNY ScienceDirect title list/holdings updated

The “SUNY Science Direct Titles” listing used via Serials Solutions’ 360Link has been updated.  The first quarter 2010 update now has tracking / “holdings” information for approximately 2170 titles (including recently announced new titles, changed titles, discontinued titles).

This resource strives to be the most up-to-date and complete listing of ScienceDirect titles available to SUNYConnect participants.

Let me know if there are questions and/or corrections.

Thanks,

John
